The UP Fighting Maroons won the UAAP Season 84 Championship last May 13, 2022 and UPAAS got together for a Barbeque Tambayan to celebrate the allowability of face-to-face gatherings the day after the Championship – May 14, 2022. BBQ can mean Back-to-Back!
That fairly satiates the shortest inquisition of this writing’s title.

Barbeques… unlimited it seemed on that eventful evening. Members together with some families and friends gathered on this historic Saturday marking UPAAS’ first face-to-face social gathering to bond together, catch up on current events and stories during the pandemic, and meet new fellow UP alumni working in Singapore.
Here are some UPAAS Postable Quotes on our latest UPAAS Tambayan: The Cha Cha Parilya – Beach Walk and BBQ event held last 14 May 2022:
B (Ninja Drink-Mixing Extraordinaire): “The activity was De-stressing and Fun as it had lots of activities/things to do that were fit for everyone’s needs. The BBQ allowed for a natural great conversation starter. The mix of OGs and young guns so made the 2 kubos (BBQ Pits) a perfect setup. Tbh, I had so much fun that I forgot the time until ‘twas time to go home. The venue was perfect for singles and members with kids in tow. Medjo bitin, so we should start earlier next time so we can have more kulitan and more kwentuhan. And we should bring more ice and a bigger cooler for the Sake and the drinks. Kampai!”
G (Most unique name confirmed via Google): “I always look forward to UPAAS socials. Even though I’ve been a member since 2014, there are always new people to meet and they inject new energy and tell new stories (minsan chismis, hehe). Each gathering is always different!”
C (High School Sepak Varsitarian, a name without an ‘h’): “Masaya po yung BBQ event not just because of the free food but also yung chance na maka-encounter ng community abroad. It looks like kulang yung time for more activities. More of these events pa po in the future. ”
I (Karaoke Starter): “Chill. Free n Easy. Camaraderie. ”
C (Professional Musician): “Thank you UPAAS for organizing this platform to get to know and have fun with alumni from all over Singapore! Nice concept to have a bbq by the sea! Looking forward to being able to attend more events like this in the future!”
L (Discovered Singer Talent of the Evening): “Sobra akong natuwa to celebrate UP MBT championship with UPAAS. I felt at home even though it was just my first time to join them. Indeed, malayong lupain man ang marating, hindi magbabago ang damdamin ng isang Isko/Iska!”
N (Martial Artist): “Well-organized party, so much food and amazing company! I was planning to stay until 8pm but it was too fun to leave. Glad to reconnect with fellow Iskos and looking forward to more of these parteys!!”
A (An Engineer): “I was very excited to attend the ChaChaParilla BBQ Party because it was a face-to-face event. I finally got to meet my fellow alumni as a new member of UPAAS. The event was well organized, and the game was full of fun. It did not only laughter but also an opportunity to interact and mingle with everybody. I know I made new friends with the UPAAS family, and I am looking forward to more events soon.”
